Going naked

Posted on | May 18, 2010 | 22 Comments

There was a movement last week in the social media world about bloggers going without makeup. I have thought about this for several days…. and have decided to participate a little late. After all, most of my life is without makeup these days. I don’t leave the house much during the week, but when I do it is rarely with makeup. This is a far stretch from the girl in college who wouldn’t step foot out of the apartment without makeup on. And like my friend, Mrs. Trophy Wife, I showed up at the hospital on induction day at 5 a.m. with my hair done and make up on.

If I’m okay  running errands sans makeup, I should be okay with posting it here right?

The truth is, it is harder for me here. This blog is basically my place for “entertaining guests” on the interwebs. And I never entertain without getting all gussied up. But, then I think I have a daughter who is beautiful and I want her to continue to feel beautiful throughout her whole life. With or without makeup… a size 4 or a size 14.

So, without further ado…. here is me without makeup. And yes, my right eye is significantly smaller than my left eye. This is something that I usually hide with eyeliner & mascara but without makeup there is no hiding it.

Raising Madison blogging without makeup.

my mom would not leave the house to get the mail without putting on her face. i was like that too until a few years ago. i will not go to work at the clinic without foundation and mascara, but i can go to class, my other job and (this is a big step) sometimes the bar without it. congrats for being brave and posting your picture on the internet! you are beautiful!

Gorgeous! You have an amazing skin/hair tone combination. Can I say that without looking like a creeper? Hope so!

Way to set an example for the little ladies of the world!

P.S. I never would have noticed your eyes (size difference I mean… Just so you know : )

You look great without makeup!! I have the same thing with my eyes, due to having Graves disease (thyroid issue) when I was younger. I’m insecure about it, but in reality it’s much more noticable to me than to other people. If you hadn’t pointed it out, I don’t think anyone would have noticed! :)

You are beautiful. Much braver then I am. I can not leave the house with out my foundation on. Although while I was pregnant I did manage to leave the house with out make up many times. You are sending a beautiful message to your daughter!

Natural beauty! I admire you. I rarely wear makeup these days. Well, I never leave the house without mascara but other than that…
I also wanted to say that I LOVE your new blog design and your daughter is absolutely stunning!

You look fresh and lovely! I never would have noticed your eyes being different and I barely can tell even though you said something. But I feel the same about mine. I did a bloggerwithoutmakeup post but my glasses obscure my eyes somewhat. I also did a post with heavier eye makeup than I’ve ever worn around Valentine’s Day and you (maybe just me) can see the difference there. It’s worse when I smile because I smile more on one side than the other.
Ahh we are our own worst critics aren’t we?!

You are beautiful. Really – your skin is lovely. I always wanted red hair, like Anne of Green Gables.

I don’t know if I’d ever be brave enough to do this.

Okay so you have flawless skin. No need for foundation–ever! I totally don’t see the bigger/smaller eye thing–at all. They look very pretty and even to me.

Good for you for posting this. I’m totally a makeup person. Yes, I also went into labor with my makeup on AND brought this big ole make up bag to have myself nice.

Enjoying your blog. Will be back : )
